The whisper of a scent

The scent that leaves no trace behind because it has ceased to be a memory; a breath of wind stirring a recollection of what was once a whole. Today, ideas create memories; yesterday, memories created ideas. The order does not matter; what matters is that which endures beyond time, stripping itself bare in winter—something more than what luck claims to be when no hope remains in the dry lakebed that was once admired.

One never thinks of the end; one eternalizes everything possible, until that which never had a beginning explains the lament of a match that never goes out.
